My point of view
I
believe that teachers need to have more ambition when they teach. One of the reasons I think this is because it
would create a better education system. When
a teacher has more ambition to teach they will do their best to help the
student learn. In return, the student
will retain more information rather than learning from a teacher who has a lack
of ambition. Students who retain more information
would then get better grades and have a better chance at life.
Another
reason I believe teachers should have more ambition is because it would show
that they care for the student. If the
teacher can express that they care for the student and want to maintain a relationship
with them to a certain extent, it would benefit both the student and teacher. It would benefit the teacher because they
could get to know more about the student, what kind of struggles they face and
understand that they may need a little extra push to do better in school. Also, the student could realize that the
teacher does care and does want to teach them therefor it might encourage them
to do better. For the student, knowing
that someone cares for them and does want to help them is a big deal, especially
considering some kids do not receive supportive and caring parents in their own
home.
Lastly,
a teacher who has more ambition to teach would most likely make class a little
more interesting. If they did fun
activities that relates to the lesson it would help the student learn and maybe
interest the student more. There are
plenty of kids who simply skip school because it’s quite boring and they see no
real importance in being there. But maybe if the teacher could make class a
little more exciting, the students will want to go to class and will want to
learn. We as students do not want to go
to class where we simply sit and read from a book or from a packet. Just like Jeff Bliss complained of doing
this, it doesn’t make a student excited to learn, in fact it may even
discourage them because they are basically teaching themselves. This isn’t how teaching should be and this is
done by teachers with a lack of ambition to teach. I believe that if there were more ambition in
teaching, it would improve the education system dramatically.
